This cut and polished Dugway geode is from Juab County, Utah. It exhibits a soft blue-gray agate lining covered with druzy quartz/chalcedony. These geodes originally formed in volcanic (rhyolite) ash deposits as gas pockets filled with chalcedony and quartz. About 14,000 to 6,000 years ago, ancient Lake Bonneville eroded the volcanic ash deposit, and re-deposited the now-geodes nearby.

Small cabinet specimen: About 3.5" x 2.8" x 2.0" (90mm x 70mm x 50mm)
